What is Texas Buglers?
Texas Buglers, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provide buglers at funerals
for Active Duty Service members and Veterans of the United States of America.

In January 2000, Congress passed legislation guaranteeing Veterans the right
to at least two uniformed servicemen, a flag ceremony, and the playing of TAPS
at their funeral. Unfortunately, there are not enough buglers to play TAPS, so
the historic melody has been played on a CD player at many Veteran's last
ceremony. So Tom Day decided that wasn't good enough for those who had
sacrificed so much for their country. In November of 2000, he founded Bugles
Across America, with the goal of providing TAPS played by a live bugler at every
Veteran's funeral. To this end, we are actively seeking volunteers to provide this
valuable service to Veterans and their families. Texas Buglers purpose is to
seek out individuals that want to and are willing to volunteer their time for the
brave men and women in Texas. The Department of Veterans Affairs is
expecting more than 1/2 million veterans to pass every year for the next 7 years
not counting the men and women currently fighting overseas.

What We Need
 | Anyone who can volunteer as a Bugler. They can play a traditional | |
| bugle with no valves, or they can perform the ceremony on a Trumpet, Cornet, Flugelhorn, or a 1, 2 or 3 valve bugle. The bugler can be of any age as long as they can play the 24 notes of Taps with an ease and style that will do honor to the Veterans, active duty members and their families |

What We Offer

Bugler to play TAPS at the graveside service at No Charge. We also seek out
people who wish to serve our Heroes who may not yet know how to play an
instrument or TAPS. Donations that are received and various fundraising
activities are used to purchase bugles and provide lessons to those who need
it. All monies collected go to the support of this service as well as any
additional items a Bugler may need. There are no salaries paid to anyone in
this organization.

receives the honor they have earned. Also we would like to assist Bugles
Across America to spread the word that buglers are needed to ensure all
Veterans and Active Duty Service members in the United States get their
honorable farewell that they have earned.
